1 - Like butter on your popcorn and now and then as a spread? Blend real butter and flaxseed oil (or virgin olive oil) in a 50/50 combination to get a healthier taste with less saturated fats and more of the essential fatty acids you need. Store in the fridge.
2 - 1 teaspoon of fat equals: - 1 T cream cheese
- 2 T parmesan
- 1/8 cup (or aprox. 2 T) part-skim cheese (20% M.F. or less eg. skimmed mozzarella)
- 1/4 cup lower-fat ricotta
- 1 cup lower- fat cottage cheese (2%)
2 teaspoons of fat is equal to: - 1/8 cup (or aprox. 2 T) of hard cheese (eg American, cheddar, Gouda, Swiss, mozzarella)
- 1 cup of creamed (4.5%)cottage cheese

3 - Plagued with insomnia? Have a light last meal well before 8 pm, a warm bath and toss some lavender petals or essential oil in your bedding. Try one of these herbal drinks before bedtime:

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar & 1 T honey OR 1/4 cup good sherry, heated & 1 t honey.

Fill remainder of glass with boiling water.


4 - One in 5 women in the 30-50 year range develop thyroid problems. Half are unknowingly suffering from it. Usually hypothyroidism tends to be more prevalent than hyperthyroidism.

If you're feeling sluggish, tire easily, have weight fluctuations, are depressed and have dull, thinning or limp hair take a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone test).
